Plans · elevations · 3D · cut lists

Cabinet and closet design software for the people who sell them.

Cabinet Maker Pro runs in your web browser. Put in the room’s wall lengths and the cabinets on each wall, and it draws the floor plan, every elevation, a 3D room and the cut list from those sizes. You get one set for the homeowner to sign and another for whoever builds the job.

Try it free for 14 days, then it’s $24.99 a month. Cancel from the billing page whenever you like.

Walls in

Measure the room the way you already do.

Start in the doorway. Wall A is the one on your left, and you work clockwise from there, entering each wall’s length measured left to right. Corners go in as degrees, 90 for square or 135 for a 45° wedge wall. Doors, cased openings and windows go on the wall with their sizes and sill heights, and so do switches, outlets, vents and soffits, so the drawing knows where everything is.

Type sizes just the way your tape reads:

34 1/234 1/2"
34-1/234 1/2"
2’ 10 1/2"34 1/2"

You can also start from a template (one wall, L, U, galley, reach-in closet or walk-in closet) and just change the numbers. The plan redraws every time you do.

The warnings

It catches mistakes before anything gets ordered.

Here’s the same kitchen on a first pass, with the second base on wall A entered 3" too wide and the pantry slid over an outlet. The app caught both, and these are its own words:

  1. Wall A: the base run is 2 1/2" too long. It ends at 146 1/2" on a 144" wall. Shorten the run to fit.
  2. Wall B: #15 covers the outlet at 100". Move the outlet, or cut the cabinet back for it.
  3. The drawers of #5 (wall A) pull out 21" and hit #12 and #13 on wall B. That space has to stay clear, so move one of them.
  4. A door of #5 (wall A) swings 17 3/4" out and hits #12 on wall B. That space has to stay clear, so move one of them.

It also flags a gap under 6" that needs a filler, cabinets that overlap, a cabinet in a window or door, one that runs above the ceiling or into the crown’s space, and two runs that collide in a corner. Corners are checked on the real outlines, so even on an angled corner it tells you how far out the second run has to start.

One set for the client to sign, one for the builder.

Both print landscape on letter or tabloid paper, each sheet at the largest standard architectural scale that fits. The title block shows your company, the client, the job number and the revision. You can also send the client a private proposal link to look over and approve online.

Build set

Shop settings

Drawn the way your cabinets are built.

The doors, drawer fronts and cut list are figured from a set of construction numbers: box and back thickness, the toe kick, reveals, face-frame stiles and rails, drawer-box clearance for the slides, counter thickness and the upper line. Set them to match the shop that builds your cabinets, save them as your standard, and every new design starts from them.

You decide on the wiggle room, too. A new design leaves 1/2" at each end of a run so the cabinets still fit when a wall is out of square. Change the amount, or turn it off to run cabinets wall to wall, and the warnings and filler strips adjust to match.

Each design keeps its own copy of the settings, and the build set prints them under the cut list, so the builder knows exactly what it was drawn to.

Built to these settings

  1. Box 3/4", back 1/2" captured between the sides, fronts 3/4".
  2. Base tops: 4" stretchers front and back, a 3 1/2" corner brace in each top corner. Cabinets are screwed to the wall through the 1/2" back.
  3. Toe kick 4" high, its face set back 3" from the door face, on a separate ladder base the boxes sit on.
  4. Frameless: fronts 1/16" in from the box edge, 1/8" between fronts.
  5. Face frame: stiles 1 1/2", rails 1 1/2", 3/4" thick, 1/2" overlay, 1/4" past each box side.
  6. Wiggle room: 1/2" left at each end of a run where it meets a wall, for out-of-square walls.
  7. Drawer boxes: 1" narrower than the opening for the slides, and 1" shorter than the front (on face frame, than the opening), rounded down to the half inch. The box depth is the slide length. Sides, front and back 1/2", bottom 1/4" in a 1/4" groove.

Answers

Questions before you start

The basics: what it does, what it costs, and who on your team can use it.

What’s the best cabinet design software for a kitchen designer or dealer?

The one that gets you from your measurements to drawings a homeowner can approve, without a desktop CAD seat. Cabinet Maker Pro runs in a web browser. You put in the walls and the cabinets once, and the floor plan, the elevations, the 3D room and the cut list all come from those same sizes.

Is there free cabinet design software?

Cabinet Maker Pro is free for the first 14 days, with every feature turned on, printed sets included. You enter a card when you sign up, and it’s first charged on day 15, then $24.99 a month after that. Cancel from the billing page before then and you won’t pay anything.

Can a homeowner approve the design online?

Yes. Press Send proposal on a design and the client gets a private link, with no account to set up. They can turn the 3D room, open the doors and drawers, and look over the floor plan, each wall with its dimensions and the cabinet list, then approve it or ask for changes. You send the link from your own Gmail, Outlook or mail app, and you can include a price.

Do I have to install anything?

No. It runs in your web browser, so there’s nothing to download or keep updated. A desktop or tablet gives you the most room to work, and the printed sets come out on letter or tabloid paper or as a PDF.

Can my whole team use one subscription?

Yes. One subscription covers your company’s account. The owner invites everyone else by email as an admin or a designer, and you all work from the same client list and designs. Nobody outside your account can see your clients or drawings.

Does it keep my clients and jobs together?

Yes. Each client gets a record with their name, phone, email and address, plus a job number that’s assigned automatically. Every design you do for them is filed under their name, and the home screen shows all of your designs with the most recently changed at the top.
